Terms & Conditions of Sale and EntryPrivacy Policy

terms & conditions of sale and entry

1. Who we are and how these terms apply

1.1 The Afters Events website is operated by Group Travel Manager Pty Ltd (ACN 132 055 077) of PO Box 875, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217 (“GTM”, “Afters Events”, “we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at [email protected].

1.2 These terms apply when you use the Afters Events website, register your interest, buy a ticket, pass or add-on (each a “Ticket”), collect a wristband or Ticket, or attend an event we sell Tickets for (“Event”). By doing any of those things, you agree to these terms.

1.3 Some Events are run by us and some are run with, or by, promoters (“Organisers”) and venues. Where we sell a Ticket for an Event run by an Organiser or venue, we sell it as their agent. Each venue also has its own conditions of entry, and you must follow those as well as these terms. If the venue’s conditions conflict with these terms, these terms apply to the extent the law allows.

1.4 Extra conditions for a particular Event (for example, bag rules or age limits for a particular night) may appear on the Event page. Conditions shown on the Event page at the time you buy form part of these terms for that Event. At the Event you must also follow reasonable safety and venue directions and signage.

1.5 Your consumer rights. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (“ACL”). Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by the ACL or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Wherever these terms say “no refund”, “we are not liable” or similar, it is always subject to this clause.

2. Eligibility, age and ID

2.1 Events are for school leavers and are marked either All Ages (for attendees aged 16 and over unless the Event page says otherwise) or 18+. Some Events are restricted to school leavers from a particular graduating year. It’s your job to check the age and eligibility rules on the Event page before you buy. Age requirements apply on the date of the Event, not the date you buy. If you will be under the required age on the Event date, you can’t attend that Event.

2.2 You must bring valid, original, unexpired photo ID to collect your wristband or Ticket and to enter every Event. Acceptable ID is a driver licence or learner permit, passport, proof of age card or other government-issued photo ID. A current school or student ID may be accepted for All Ages Events only where the Event page says so. Photos or photocopies of ID aren’t accepted. Digital licences are only accepted where the venue and local law allow.

2.3 You will be refused entry, and you won’t be entitled to a refund, if you:

  • can’t show valid ID,
  • don’t meet the age or eligibility requirement for the Event, or
  • give us, the Organiser or the venue false or misleading information about your age, identity or eligibility.

2.4 If you are under 18, you confirm when you buy that your parent or guardian consents to your purchase and to you attending the Event. A parent or guardian who pays, including through our Parent Proxy Payment link, agrees to these terms as a party and is responsible for the attendee following them. We may ask for a parent or guardian’s contact details.

2.5 Buying a Ticket doesn’t entitle you to buy or be served alcohol. All Ages Events are alcohol-free and attendees may be breathalysed on entry and at any time during the Event. The venues we work with hold their own liquor licences and are responsible for complying with them and with local liquor laws, including minimum drinking age and ID requirements. Venues may refuse to serve anyone, including anyone who is intoxicated.

3. Buying Tickets

3.1 Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where it applies. Before you pay, we show the total price including any booking or transaction fee you must pay. Payment method surcharges (if any) are shown before you pay and won’t be more than our cost of accepting that payment method.

3.2 Your order is a request to buy. A contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and capacity for every Event is limited.

3.3 Registering your interest, joining a waitlist or receiving a pre-sale or promo code doesn’t guarantee you a Ticket or a price. Promo codes can’t be exchanged for cash, can only be used once unless we say otherwise, and can’t be applied after purchase.

3.4 If you send a cart link to someone else to pay, the Ticket is still issued to you, the attendee. The person paying is responsible for the payment and agrees to these terms.

3.5 If we offer a payment plan or a third-party buy now, pay later service, its terms will be shown before you choose it. If a scheduled payment fails and isn’t fixed within the time we tell you, we may cancel the order. Amounts already paid will be dealt with as set out in that plan’s terms and the law.

3.6 If a Ticket is listed at an obviously wrong price or with obviously wrong inclusions because of a genuine error, we may cancel the order and give you a full refund, or give you the choice of paying the correct price.

3.7 We may limit the number of Tickets per person, card, account or household. We may cancel orders, with a refund of what you paid, where we reasonably believe they were placed using bots or automated software, to get around purchase limits, for resale, using fraudulent or unauthorised payment details, or in material breach of these terms.

3.8 If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first so we can fix it. If you dispute a valid charge with your bank instead, we may suspend or cancel the related Tickets while the dispute is investigated.

3.9 A Ticket gives you entry to the Event or Events and the inclusions described on the Event page at the time you buy. Where we show a value for an inclusion (such as a “valued at” amount), it is the price that part would cost if bought separately.

3.10 Some Tickets include discounts, offers, activities or perks provided by third parties, such as retailers, attractions, shuttles or venue upgrades. These are subject to the third party’s own terms and availability and may change. Losing a perk isn’t a major change.

4. Wristbands and Tickets

4.1 Your Ticket may be issued as a digital ticket with a live, refreshing QR code, a physical wristband or Ticket, or a combination. Where a wristband or Ticket needs to be collected, you must collect it from the collection point, and within the times, shown on the Event page, and show your ID and your live QR code when you do.

4.2 Wristbands must be worn on your wrist for the whole Event period. Wristbands and Tickets must not be removed, cut, loosened, damaged, altered, swapped or tampered with. A wristband or Ticket that has been interfered with, or a QR code that’s been copied, shared or screenshotted, may be treated as invalid and entry refused.

4.3 You’re responsible for your Ticket and wristband once they’re issued to you. We don’t have to replace a wristband or Ticket that’s lost, stolen, damaged or invalidated because of something you did. We may choose to replace one after checking your identity and purchase, and a reasonable replacement fee may apply.

4.4 If you don’t collect your wristband or Ticket, or don’t use some or all of your Ticket, including any Event, entry, activity, perk or other inclusion it covers, you aren’t entitled to a refund for the part you didn’t use.

5. Transfers and resale

5.1 Tickets are personal to the named attendee and are non-transferable unless we offer an official transfer or name change feature for that Event. If we do, fees and conditions may apply.

5.2 You must not resell, offer for resale, or advertise a Ticket for resale, or use a Ticket for any commercial purpose, including as a prize or in a promotion, without our written permission. Reselling above the original price may also be illegal under state ticket scalping laws.

5.3 If a Ticket is resold, or offered for resale, in breach of these terms, we may cancel it and refund the original buyer the ticket price less booking fees (or without a refund where the Ticket was obtained by fraud), and the holder may be refused entry or removed. We can’t help you with a Ticket bought from anyone other than Afters Events or an official Afters Events partner. Tickets from unofficial sellers may be fake or invalid.

6. Changes, postponements and cancellations

6.1 Some Events, including Events for future years, go on sale before every detail is confirmed. Where the Event page says a lineup, venue, time or inclusion is “to be announced” or “subject to confirmation”, those details may be confirmed later. That isn’t a major change as long as the Event is substantially as described when you bought. If the headliner or lineup for an Event hadn’t been announced when you bought your Ticket, announcing or changing the lineup isn’t a major change.

6.2 Events are live and plans can shift. We, the Organiser or the venue may make reasonable changes that don’t substantially change the Event, such as changes to support acts, set times, running order, themes, room or area layout, entry times or inclusions. You’re not entitled to a refund for a minor change.

6.3 If we, the Organiser or the venue cancel an Event, or make a major change to it, you’re entitled to a refund of the price you paid for the affected part of your Ticket, including booking fees. We may also offer you the option to keep your Ticket for the changed Event or to take a credit instead of a refund, but the choice is yours.

6.4 If an Event is cancelled, postponed or materially changed only because of something outside the reasonable control of us, the Organiser and the venue, we will offer you, at a minimum, the choice of a refund of the ticket price for the affected part of your Ticket or a credit or replacement Ticket of equal or greater value. Credits are valid for at least 12 months. Booking fees may be retained where the law allows, because the booking service was provided.

6.5 If an Event is postponed, your Ticket is valid for the new date. If you can’t attend the new date, you may ask for a refund under clause 6.3 or 6.4 (whichever applies) within the period we tell you, which will be at least 14 days after we notify you.

6.6 If an Event starts but is stopped, delayed or ended early for safety reasons or at the direction of police or another authority, and most of it has already taken place, you aren’t entitled to a refund. If most of it hasn’t taken place, clause 6.4 applies.

6.7 Outdoor Events go ahead rain or shine unless it’s unsafe or an authority directs otherwise. Bad weather on its own is not a reason for a refund.

6.8 We’ll tell you how to claim any refund. Refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 10 business days of approval. We’re not responsible for travel, accommodation or other costs you’ve paid to others, except where the law requires us to be.

6.9 Change of mind. We don’t give refunds or exchanges if you change your mind, can’t attend, bought the wrong Ticket, aren’t eligible, are refused entry or removed under these terms, are unwell or have to isolate, or can’t travel. This doesn’t affect your rights under clause 1.5.

7. At the Event

7.1 Entry is subject to capacity. Arrive early; a Ticket for a nightly or multi-venue pass doesn’t guarantee entry to a specific venue at a specific time if it has reached safe capacity. Unless the Event page says otherwise, pass-outs aren’t allowed at All Ages Events except in an emergency.

7.2 We, the Organiser, the venue, security and police may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who, in their reasonable opinion:

  • is intoxicated or affected by drugs, or tries to bring in or use alcohol at an All Ages Event,
  • brings, uses or supplies illegal drugs or a prohibited item,
  • behaves in a violent, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, harassing or offensive way,
  • crowd surfs, stage dives, climbs structures, starts or joins dangerous moshing, throws objects or otherwise acts in a way that puts themselves or others at risk,
  • refuses a search or a reasonable direction from staff, security or police,
  • doesn’t have a valid Ticket, wristband or ID, or has a tampered, copied or resold one, or
  • breaches these terms, the venue’s conditions of entry or the law.

Anyone refused entry or removed for these reasons isn’t entitled to a refund, and may be banned from future Events.

7.3 You and your belongings may be searched by us, the Organiser, the venue, security or police on entry and during the Event. Some Events don’t allow bags, and the Event page will say so. Prohibited items may be confiscated and won’t be returned, and illegal items may be handed to police.

7.4 Venues may apply their own rules. Where an Event is exclusive to Afters Events for a set period, the venue may open to the public outside that period.

7.5 You must follow the laws of the place where the Event is held. For Events in Bali, Indonesian law applies.

7.6 You are responsible for your own belongings. We, the Organiser and the venue aren’t responsible for personal items that are lost, stolen or damaged at an Event, except where the loss is caused by our or their negligence or breach of these terms.

7.7 Events are photographed and filmed. By attending, you agree that we, the Organiser and the venue may photograph, film and record you as part of the crowd and use that material on our promotional channels to promote Afters Events, Schoolies.com events and our Events, without payment. If you’d prefer not to be featured tell our photographers on the night, or email us and we’ll take reasonable steps to remove identifiable images of you from our own channels going forward. You must not record any part of an Event for commercial purposes, or use professional recording equipment, without our written permission.

7.8 You must follow any health, safety or government directions in place at the time of the Event.

7.9 In an emergency, we, the Organiser, the venue, Red Frogs or first aid staff may arrange medical treatment for you and contact your parent, guardian or emergency contact. Ambulance and medical costs are your responsibility unless the law or your insurance covers them.

7.10 Events can involve loud music, strobe and laser lighting, haze and smoke effects, and large crowds. If any of these could affect your health, please get advice before attending.

8. Our liability

8.1 Subject to clause 1.5, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you bought your Ticket, or for loss caused by you, by a third party outside our control, or by your breach of these terms.

8.2 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, to the extent the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.

8.3 Where an Organiser or venue runs an Event, they are responsible for delivering it.

9. Your responsibilities

9.1 You agree to give us accurate information, keep your account and QR code secure, and follow these terms, the venue’s rules and the law.

9.2 If you cause loss or damage to us, the Organiser, a venue or another person by breaking these terms or the law, or by deliberate or reckless behaviour at an Event, you are responsible for that loss to the extent it’s caused by you. This includes damage to venue property.

9.3 Keep your email and mobile number up to date. We send important Event notices, including changes and cancellations, by email and SMS.

10. Using our website

10.1 All content on the Afters Events website, including the Afters Events name and logo, text, images, video and design, belongs to us or our licensors. You may view it for your personal use, but you must not copy, scrape, reproduce or use it commercially without our permission.

10.2 You must not use bots, scripts or other automated tools to access the website or buy Tickets, interfere with the site’s security or operation, or use the site for anything unlawful.

10.3 We try to keep information on the website accurate and up to date, but Event details can change. Information from third parties, such as venues and artists, is provided in good faith.

11. General

11.1 We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the website when you buy a Ticket applies to that purchase, unless the law requires otherwise or a change is minor and doesn’t disadvantage you.

11.2 These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland and the courts that can hear appeals from them. If you live in another state or territory, you keep any rights you have under the laws of that place.

11.3 If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is read down or removed and the rest continues to apply.

11.4 If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we haven’t given up the right to enforce it later.

privacy policy

This policy explains how Group Travel Manager Pty Ltd (ACN 132 055 077), which operates Afters Events (“GTM”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, shares and protects personal information.

1. What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details: name, date of birth or age, email, mobile, postcode and state, school and graduating year, and a parent or guardian’s name and contact details if you’re under 18 or a parent pays for your Ticket.
  • Ticket and event details: the Tickets you buy, the Events you attend, wristband and QR code scans, and your entry times.
  • ID verification: information we, Organisers or venues need to check your age and identity, such as the type of ID you show and whether it was verified.
  • Payment details: handled by our payment providers. We don’t store your full card number.
  • Photos and video: taken at our Events, see clause 7.7 of our Terms.
  • Health and accessibility information: only if you choose to give it to us, for example about a medical condition or accessibility need, so we can support you at an Event. This is sensitive information and we only collect it with your consent or where the law allows, such as in an emergency.
  • Safety information: emergency contact details, breathalyser results at All Ages Events, and incident records if you’re involved in a safety, security or conduct incident. Incident records may include details of alleged offences, which is sensitive information.
  • Messages: what you send us through forms, email, social media or SMS.
  • Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser details, pages viewed, how you found us, and cookie, pixel and similar data.

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you register, buy, collect a wristband or Ticket, attend an Event or contact us, and automatically through cookies and similar technology when you use our website. We may also receive it from people acting for you, such as a parent paying through a Parent Proxy Payment link, and from venues, Organisers, security, safety partners and our service providers.

3. Why we use it

  • to process orders and payments, issue Tickets and wristbands, and manage entry and capacity,
  • to check age, identity and eligibility, and prevent fraud, scalping and ticket misuse,
  • to contact you about your Tickets and Events, including changes, cancellations, refunds and safety information,
  • to keep people safe at Events and respond to incidents and emergencies,
  • to answer questions and handle complaints,
  • to send you marketing,
  • to understand how people use our website and improve our Events and services, and
  • to meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Who we share it with

We only share personal information for the purposes above, or as the law allows. That can include with:

  • Organisers and venues, so they can manage entry, capacity, safety and their own obligations,
  • security, medical and safety partners working at our Events,
  • service providers who help us run Afters Events, such as payment processors, ticketing, wristband and scanning providers, website hosting, email and SMS platforms, customer support tools, and analytics and advertising platforms,
  • a parent or guardian who paid for or is responsible for an attendee under 18, about that booking. If you use a Parent Proxy Payment link, the person you send it to can see your cart and booking details,
  • police, government agencies and regulators, where required or authorised by law or needed to prevent a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety,
  • our professional advisers, and a buyer of our business if it is sold.

5. Overseas disclosure

For Events in Bali, we disclose relevant attendee details to Organisers, venues and service providers in Indonesia. Some of our service providers, including advertising and analytics platforms, may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States.

6. Automated decisions

We use automated systems to help protect our customers and Events from fraud, bots and ticket misuse.

  • Decisions made solely by automated systems: blocking or cancelling an order or account for suspected fraud, bot use or going over purchase limits.
  • Decisions substantially assisted by automated systems: flagging orders, accounts or Tickets (including QR codes) for review by a person.
  • Personal information used: name, contact details, payment and billing details, device, IP address and network data, order history, purchase patterns and QR code scan data.

If you think an automated decision about you is wrong, contact us and a person will review it.

7. Keeping it safe and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure.

8. Access, correction and complaints

Contact our Privacy Officer at [email protected] or by post at PO Box 875, Surfers Paradise QLD 4217. You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you. We’ll respond within 30 days. If we can’t give you access, we’ll explain why. If you have a privacy complaint, send it to our Privacy Officer with the details. We’ll acknowledge it, investigate it, and respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
